“I do have quite strong views on book awards. My view is that as a writer you should regard them entirely as ‘posh bingo’ and as utter luck and nothing more. And if you are a member of the judging panel you should regard them as the absolutely most objective and perfect example of literary decision-making there could possibly be. I also think that judges of literary prizes should make their decisions in private and then absolutely shut up and never talk about it. One of the things that mars the Booker Prize is judges earning themselves another hundred quid by writing a tell-all piece, which is inevitably hurtful to some writers. I don’t think they should even publish long-lists of books. I think they should publish a short list, and one winner and not comment on it. I think they should say ‘This is the best book, according to us. End of story.’”

Atatürk Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi 46 yıldır atıl bir şekilde bekleyen civci üretim tesislerini (Kuluçkahane) 250 bin TL’lik bir yatırımla yeniden faaliyete soktu. Tesiste, Erzurum il geneli ve civar illerin damızlık materyal ihtiyacının karşalanması amaçlanıyor.

Açılışını Atatürk Üniversitesi Rektörü Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak’ın yaptığı tesisler 150 bin civciv üretim kapasitesine sahip.

Açılışta tesislerle ilgili bilgi veren Ziraat Fakültesi İşletme Müdürü Doç. Dr. Mevlüt Karaoğlu, 1959 yılında kurulan Kuluçkahane’nin 6 yıl çalıştırıldıktan sonra kapandığını hatırlattı. Kuluçkahane’yi 250 bin TL’lik bir yatırımla 46 yıl aradan sonra yeniden faaliyete geçirdiklerini anlatan Karaoğlu, şunları söyledi:
